It’s been 3 months! Did I finally get a ‘life’?

However, there are many things that happened which would be a waste not to blog about.
After all the main reason why I had this blog in the first place was to.. well.. blog.

1. I graduated!

Well, almost. I finally finished school around May,
so all I’m doing now is wasting my life away waiting for my Graduation Show and Graduation Ceremony for that ‘official’ status and to collect my diploma!

2. FYP went well!

Better than expected actually! Thankful to have my Jellynub as my FYP partner. Thank you! :3

3. I got tickets to The XX. (before it was sold out!)

Photo 18-6-13 12 22 52 AM1

I view this as an achievement because it sold out really quickly, hehe. They’re also one of my favorite bands, and I just HAD to catch them live.
I’m going alone, however. But it’s okay. I’LL MAKE FRIENDS THERE!

4. I completed a few great noteworthy games:

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Bioshock Infinite, Metro Last Light.
I will be doing an extremely delayed post on Bioshock Infinite soon. (Haha, this might mean a wait of another 3 months.)
I intended for a Metro Last Light post, but due to my wonky copy of the game *ahem*, my screenshots were of a messed up resolution. SAD.

I really enjoyed Metro though. I dare say I might have found it more immersive than Bioshock, since Metro makes you actually FEEL more.
In fact, I had to pause a few times in the game cause I was too creeped out. Maybe it’s cause I’m too much of a wuss. Heh.
It’s less linear than Bioshock too.
But then again both games has it’s pros and cons.

To summarize it really quickly:
Blood Dragon was the most entertaining, Infinite was really beautiful & had an amazing ending, Metro was a memorable & decision-driven game that deserves more attention.

5. I’m moving to London in September.

6. I got into a university!

Photo 18-6-13 1 26 15 AM

Honestly I thought I would not be able to get in,
due to my lack of good works in my portfolio and my crappy GPA (before I found out my final CGPA).
But I was successful!

I think my interview helped A LOT too, because I got along really well with the interviewer. Even making him laugh out loud often in an awkward quiet office room.
(There were other nervous applicants with other university representatives in the same room.)
So guys, if you’re reading this chunk of text; an interview is the best way to present yourself as an individual and prove yourself if you lack in the portfolio department.
Try your best to not be nervous, and be comfortable. I was nervous too, but I guess the ice broke down really quick. (It was luck that I had a friendly interviewer too.)

So, yeah. I’ll be moving to London in September to start my degree studies on Game Design in Brunel University.
Really excited because I love the department’s affiliations with various game companies and that their faculty is experienced.

I’ll be staying by myself in a university dorm for 3 years and most likely getting a part time job to help ease the financial burden from my parents.
After that, if money and UK Visa issues permit, continue education/land a job!
I’ll be separated from my furry little monster cat Naomi too. No more warm cuddles in the night!

A little scared, yes. But excited and anxious, definitely yes too.
12 hours away from Singapore, new country, new environment, new weather, new people, and most of all; new opportunities.

Extremely thankful that my parents are supporting my education costs, because after all, I do not come from a wealthy background.
So it’s a big move I’m making, along with the financial risks, and I am more than determined to make them very proud!
Thank you Mom and Dad. :) So very blessed.

So there you have it.
3 months in 5 general points! I am aware I lead a rather boring life, but hey; it may change in September. Heh.

Quality over quantity

Man, forcing myself to vomit out posts as often as possible isn’t really gonna help.
I have drafts of uncontinued crappy blog posts that I probably won’t publish anyway.

I shall stick to the ‘quality over quantity’ quote.

In other words, I’ll post when I have something nice to post about.

Quick summary of what happened till now

In random order because I am horrid at remembering event when’s and what’s.

  1.  Internship for about 9 weeks. :)
Awesome environment, friendly people and since I was the web designer, I now view websites and fonts in a very harsh way. (Sometimes not a good thing.)
Worked with my faaaabulous buddy from class, hence laughter everyday at work.
Look at how genius we are. Using drink plastics to increase water capacity!
Who ACTUALLY still play Sims Social? Josep.

Boss #2 Daryl’s treat for our last day of work! At Choupinette. A really really nice place at Bukit Timah.
This was my Beef Lasagne! It’s really delicious and all sorts of wonderful. LOTS OF CHEESE SAUCE IS ALWAYS GOOD.
    I just had to caps.
Crème brûlée ! (Yes I had to copy paste the name from google because I felt it’s deserving.)

It’s really, really, really good. The crisp sugar layer on top was quite heavy-feeling (or maybe I just got full from the lasagne),
but the crème brûlée itself underneath… MMMMHHHRRMMGGGHHHH.
    So awesome.

  2. NEW DESKTOP + Room tidying up
Ah, my favorite part of the holidays. As a lovely gift from my mom for having good grades for the recent semester,
my mom agreed to fully sponsor the payment of my new desktop.
I was always keen on getting a custom desktop cause I felt it’s an obvious choice for performance+worth for price, no?
I also had to the chance to tidy up the my desk + room itself not too long ago.
I really like this art print I bought in STGCC 2010. (If I remember correctly!)
It’s by a local artist/animator Eldred Tjie (local talents ftw), who isn’t residing in Singapore anymore I guess.
He doesn’t have a site with all his works. I could only find his Facebook. :/
Nevertheless, I really, really liked this particular work of this, and I remember he used a red ribbon to hold together the print roll. :)
Quite bitter about the mouse. I can’t use my Molten for now because I haven’t bought a new keyboard.
So I’ll use the temporary 2in1 keyboard+mouse set. (Both connected with same usb, can’t separate -_-)
The icky wifi box at the right. Along with the display cabinet at the left.

Just because I needed to place these somewhere and they fitted nicely in between.

Casing + old buddy Lightbox that I had to use for Principles of Animation in Year 2 Sem 1. Memories.

  3. Jon’s sister’s wedding
First time actually being properly invited to a chinese wedding. (previously just accompanied my mom, etc)
Kinda already feels like a sister-in-law getting married. :3 They looked so happy! I didn’t take pictures at all cause I felt rather awkward. Hahahahaha.
Yes, I know. I suck at dressing up. I just wore what I wear to school normally. (hey, atleast it’s a dress!)
But look at my hair! :D If there’s anything I actually like about my hair, it’s the fact it’s never been colored but is obviously not black at all. *beams*
Jon took this photo of Jason & Junle. Why? I don’t know.
  4. Met up with secondary school girl-friends!
During the holidays, I went out with Xinfang and Chiafeng on 2 occasions, I think?
I pretty much posted most of the food+Harry Potter exhibit photos on Instagram sooo I don’t think I need to repost.

Thank youuuu Xinfang! Love you! :3
This lovely girl bought me a mini Voldemort wand! Because we didn’t purchase wands when we went to the HP exhibit together, and she knows I like Voldy’s wand. Heheh.

– Not mentioned but coming in next posts because of image intensive-ness: Class Chalet & Concerts so far (The Kooks & Snow Patrol).

I thoroughly enjoyed my holidays, despite working my brains out during internship. (I guess it makes me appreciate study life more too)
Year 3 started and the water is already boiling.
But I do have great groups and I hope to get better results this semester!
All the efforts and mindset I had last semester showed big improvements, hence I will do my best.

And yes, I will still find time to play my games. ..Somehow.

Poor blog

I always abuse blogs badly nowadays by not writing at all for a long time.
I blame lengthy bus rides from home to work, work to home and just being braindead infront of the computer playing Diablo 3.

But since work is over and I have a week left being a free bird before school starts,
I have time to -finally- finish that lame Part 2 post. I think.

Perhaps it’s knowing that I’m nearing 20 soon, but I feel like I’m old now.
But isn’t 20 like the infancy of adulthood? Hmmmmm.

On how I had no life for a few weeks – Diablo 3

So I pre-ordered Diablo 3 quite some time ago before the launch, and by the time it was launched,
I already started working for my internship.

But my lovely boyfriend, despite being not interested in the game, was willing to help me collect my copy on the launch date! :)
He braved through swarms of ‘annoying nerds’ (as quoted, LOL) and got my copy during the evening.
Thank you again, hehe.

From then on, I spent all my nights (and weekends) in front of my laptop. But I’d say it was money well-spent.

So which class did I play? I think people who knows me well understand my love for ranged classes. But at the same time I liked dark stuff, so choosing between Demon Hunter and Witch Doctor was rather tough.

Then I realized I love to make my character pretty and fierce looking; so I went with Demon Hunter.
Sorry but female Witch Doctors can’t really be very awesome looking with such armor :|
(but I do have a side character WD named Sharkbait!)

Now Gilang, playing as Barbarian,  is in my party!

‘Only time I ever agree to be blindfolded is when I’m with a naked sorceress.’

I think this post is really long-due already since monthsss ago (after my Skyrim post in the old blog),
but here it is;

It is by far one of the most well-made game I’ve played, graphics & story-wise.
Especially the story. I’m a sucker for good storylines.
The only flaw I could take out of it was it’s battle difficulty and weird inventory system.

I’d say the battle gameplay is rather hard (at first atleast).
Although it looks rather straight-forward and hack&slash-y, the first few battles are already quite tough (if you’re the kind who just runs around and hits everything).
Maybe I took the battle system too lightly but I died quite quickly during some first battles with numerous mobs. *noob*
But I was not alone on this as I’ve read other reviews and a classmate played the game as well.

Anyway, this game requires much thinking before a big battle, such as what buffs/potions you would use before you rush in.
You CAN’T heal yourself with potions during a battle(only before or after). Rather annoying but unique feature.
Hence you can see why it requires much thought.

Inventory system, well, it’s quite messy and annoying. That’s it.

Did I mention it contains violencenudity+sex scenesbloodvulgarities and hilarious dialogues?

In summary: a very, very good game for any RPG fan that doesn’t mind a slightly tougher battle system and loves the fact that your choices in dialogues affect your game tremendously.

Here comes the pretty screenshot spam from early in the game (hence in no order+not much spoilers):

Don’t you just love a Dwarf’s sense of humor?
Is it just me or is Sile’s right boob-nip slightly showing? (see next pic too)
I thought it was perhaps a shadow or something but well.. Hmm.. It’s just a very slight show but it’s still noticeable (I’m not a perv!!!)
Geralt’s sexy eyes and manly features. :D
Appreciation of the environment’s design, especially for this Elven area.
What an obvious question, Miss Triss Merigold.
And what a cheeky reply from Geralt.
The I’m-gonna-show-how-sexy-I-am-as-I-use-my-magic-to-remove-clothes part.
Triss obviously wanting Geralt, and them about to have le sexytime.
(Yes they really showed it, but ofcourse I’m not posting them here -_-)
The scene was shot really artistically anyway so it’s not as perverse :|
I really like the zoomed out shot of that picture actually.
Such a pretty shot. But this scene was amusing because the line was related to the fact that Geralt & Triss’s sexytime voices could be heard by a dude who was standing nearby.
That’s rather creepy, RoachRoche.
And this is Iorveth. I obviously sided with Iorveth. Helping non-humans always.
Prince Stennis!
Saskia. One of my fav characters.
Some blood is always good.
Douchebag King Henselt.
The pretty and bad-ass Saskia the Dragonslayer.
Wraiths soldiers born by a cursed mist.
And I guess that’s all!

Where are the creative juices?

So some nights ago, a few of my classmates and I went on iScrib and ‘collaborated’ quick doodles on the same canvas.

Jeremy, Michael, Josep, and my supa-kawaii-chan Pedobear.

After which, Michael and Josep left.
So it was only me and Jeremy left drawing.
What were our doodles?
Jeremy & Mine. I think it’s really obvious who did which, haha.
Y u got skillz, Jeremy?!
Version 2: Tea Party with my Sir Neko San! :3
I will never be able to draw ‘serious’ stuff, haha. But the little collab was cute anyway.
And my favorite one,
In translation: “Save the whales! 2 million get stuck on rocks every year!

This wasn’t really a collab at all. I drew the whole thing and he colored the ‘sky’ and wrote the words, hahahaha.
Inspired by those utterly annoying want-to-make-you-feel-guilty Facebook photo shares.
Can spot a Dreamworks sponsor too, hahaha lame.

I should really just take the time to do serious drawings although I suck at it.

I’m more interested in 3D anyway. But nonetheless, basic foundation is important no?

Internship starts really soon and I’m afraid I won’t have time for my personal projects or catch up with friends that are not from NAFA.
But, gahhh, I guess it can’t be helped?
